360 students: ‘We’re going to keep fighting for our school’
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Last week students walked out of 360 High School in Providence in protest to a proposed closing of the school.
Now, parents, students and staff will get their chance to sound off on the proposal with a public meeting slated for Thursday.
The closure would merge the 360 students with the student body at Juanita Sanchez school, but will leave staff with many questions about their own employment going forward.
“We’re not going to leave, we’re going to keep fighting for our school,” said 360 senior Nurkis Payamps.
“This is our home, and we have to live our life the way we want to live,” said 360 senior Jonathan Lopez.
Jaw Wegimont of the Providence Public School District said that “the redesign of the JSEC will expand access to educational programming.”
