PVDFest preparations underway in downtown Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — PVDFest is nearly underway in Downtown Providence, as preparations continue for the festivals return to Kennedy Plaza.
The festival is set to run from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, and from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday with a rain date of Saturday.
Returning to Kennedy Plaza means the normally bustling travel hub has been quiet, with bussing normally meant for the area moved down to Dyer Street.
Last years festival hit a few rough patches with poor weather and a new location, but locals are ready to enjoy the festivals return.
“Can’t wait, can’t wait!” Providence resident Charles Kiser told ABC6.
“This is what it’s about. You know, this is what people really need in their lives,” said Kiser.
PVDFest always includes a range of music, food, and art.
Mayor Brett Smiley also highlighted the new events he’s most looking forward to.
“In addition to some of the music’s, there is a mural battle taking place in Burnside Park, cultivated by one of our famous muralists, Agonza. And you’ll have two different teams kind of quote on quote competing,” said Smiley.
The location also means a range of street closures, no parking areas, and public transit changes all set to run through the weekend, which you can find here.
