PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Super Bowl of politics is just hours away: the first presidential debate.

ABC6 News polled people online and in person about questions for the candidates. Several people wanted to know about stances on immigration, the economy, higher education reform, and everything in between.

"I do hope the issues come forward so that people really have some choices to make based on issues and not based on personalities," explained Jane Reggio of Millville.

Most Southern New Englanders we caught up with are tired of the political attacks. "I hope I have some reason to continue to choose the candidate that I’m planning to vote for," said Jan Burling of Providence.

For other people we polled, the drama is just another reason to watch.

Tonight’s debate could break records: 100-million people are expected to tune in. With the candidates just two points apart in the latest ABC News-Washington Post Poll, there’s a lot at stake.
