PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- President Biden is set to deliver his State of the Union speech Tuesday, and much of the Rhode Island Delegation will virtually attend with guests from the area.

Congressman David Cicilline announces UNAP President and Rhode Island nurse Lynn Bais as his virtual guest to the State of the Union, in an effort to highlight the sacrifices of the Rhode Island’s healthcare workers.

UNAP represents 7,500 Rhode Island healthcare professionals.

“The past two years have been extremely trying on our healthcare professionals – including Lynn and all the heroes she represents as President of UNAP,” said Congressman Cicilline.

“We would not have made it to this point without them. As we continue on this road to recovery, I remain committed to ensuring that all our healthcare workers get the support they need and deserve to continue caring for our community and themselves,” continued Cicilline.

Congressman Jim Langevin announced that he is inviting Peter Alviti, Jr., Director of the Rhode Island Department of Transportation, as the state continues to rebuild critical infrastructure.

Langevin invited Alviti to celebrate the work RIDOT is doing to rebuild the state’s infrastructure and to highlight the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s impact on the lives of Rhode Islanders.

“Passing the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law was undoubtedly one of Congress’s biggest accomplishments last year, and I want Rhode Islanders to know that this is a huge win for our state and our country,” said Rep. Langevin.

“Thanks to the steadfast commitment of Director Alviti and RIDOT to fixing our crumbling infrastructure, Rhode Islanders will soon have faster commutes, fewer accidents, and safer communities,” continued Langevin.

Senator Jack Reed will have Andrew Cortés of Building Futures RI as his virtual guest when Biden delivers his State of the Union address.

“Building Futures helps connect Rhode Islanders to the jobs of today and careers of tomorrow,” says Reed.
