R.I. DUI Task Force will patrol throughout July 4th weekend

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island DUI Task Force will host a press conference today to announce the deployment of the Task Force this July 4 holiday weekend.
According to a release, for the first time since its inception, the task force will also include the Department of Environmental Management’s Law Enforcement Division.
The DEM Law Enforcement Division will specifically be looking out for impaired boaters, stated the release.
The press conference is scheduled to be held at 10 a.m. at the North Kingstown Senior Center.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, from 2018 to 2022, there were 2,228 people killed in motor vehicle traffic crashes over the Fourth of July holiday period — 39 percent of the drivers killed were drunk.
