Racers trek through Narragansett for 52nd annual Blessing of the Fleet Road Race

NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WLNE) — Walkers and runners trekked 10 miles through Narragansett Friday for the Blessing of the Fleet Road Race.

Around 4,000 runners, walkers, and wheelchair entrants competed in the 52nd year of the event, which ends near Narragansett pier near the main blessing festival.

Participants hailed from all over New England and across the country.

“This is my cousin and my family is from around here so every year we try to come up and make it happen,” Riley Kelly of Chicago said. “Last year was too hot so we had to come back and try it this year.”

Full results for the race can be found here.

Proceeds for the event go to local charities.
