PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo has been named one of six co-chairs of the Democratic National Convention.

The Democratic governor is a supporter of presumptive presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

Raimondo doesn’t have a speaking slot on the floor of the convention, but she is scheduled to speak at panels on infrastructure and Rhode Island’s computer science education program.

She’s scheduled to arrive Thursday in Philadelphia.

The Rhode Island Progressive Democrats on Monday urged the party to remove Raimondo from the ceremonial role, calling her views too far to the right.

The convention leadership was announced not long after the party’s chairwoman, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, announced her resignation for the sake of party unity after leaked emails indicated the committee sought to undermine Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’ campaign under her leadership.
