Rain and wind for Southern New England
Mother Nature did NOT want us to have a relaxing end of the year… weather-wise, at least.
We’re following up last night’s freezing rain with fog, mist & drizzle this morning. As a cold front moves in later in the morning, we’ll see rain, some heavy at times, between about 11 AM and 2 PM. Even around 3 and 4 PM, don’t be shocked to see a lingering shower. On the bright side (if you like it warm), highs will be around 50 this afternoon as mild air comes flying in out of the south ahead of our front.
However, after the front passes, the pattern flips. Cooler air filters in through the night, leading to wind gusts in the 20s and some in the 30s possible, a flurry or two, and overnight lows in the mid 20s.
This is just the start, as Tuesday is shaping up to be a very cold, blustery day. Cold air flies in, pushing wind gusts into the 30s and 40s. All the while, highs only reach the upper 20s. We’ll be mostly to partly cloudy.
The final day of 2025 looks slightly calmer, but only relatively speaking. We’ll be partly sunny with highs in the low to mid 30s. It’ll still be breezy as well as a small disturbance moves through New England. This area of low pressure looks dry, but cold.
The first day of 2026 is still breezy with a mix of sun & clouds. Highs will only be in the mid to upper 20s! A brisk start to the New Year!
