Rain and Wind Midweek

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Unsettled weather is in the forecast, particularly midweek.

Clouds thicken up tonight and will be here for several days. Low temperatures tonight will drop to near 40.

Tuesday has lots of clouds and there is the slightest chance of showers in the afternoon and evening. Highs will be near 50.

Tuesday night we will see the rain pick up as a coastal storm develops and intensifies.

Wednesday and Thursday are the peak of the rain and wind from the coastal storm.

Winds gusting 35-45 mph could result in power outages as well as tree damage, and 1-2″ of rain will cause extensive road ponding as well as put area rivers back into flood.

The Pawcatuck River in Westerly and in Wood River Junction, the Pawtuxet River in Cranston and the Wood River at Hope Valley are all expected to be back above flood stage by Wednesday night.

There is even the slight chance of thunderstorms Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

Clouds linger Friday and Saturday mixing with sunshine and a slight chance of showers.

Sunshine returns for Sunday and Monday is looking nice for the Eclipse in the afternoon.
