Rain moves in this afternoon
Much-needed showers continue overnight, drying out but gusty tomorrow
Your lawns and gardens have been begging for it, and we finally have some much-needed rainfall on the way to Southern New England this afternoon. Clouds fill in this morning and rain showers will begin after lunchtime. Some downpours and heavy rain are possible later in the evening, including for the evening commute. Up to an inch of rainfall is possible locally in some spots by the time this system moves out early tomorrow morning, but no flooding issues are expected.
Another side effect of the rain and clouds today is that it will be quite cool today – I think most of us will struggle to make it out of the 60s this afternoon. Some places may be able to get up to the low 70s, but that will be short-lived.
Tomorrow, as Erin nears, surf will kick up along the coastline. We have Gale Watches and High Surf Advisories in effect for our waters, with seas of 10 feet or greater expected at times. Although sunshine will return beginning tomorrow afternoon, a high risk of rip currents this weekend means it might not be a good one to jump in the ocean.
Have a great Wednesday!
