Rain returns Thursday before a nice lead into the weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — It was certainly a warmer day Wednesday, but it was also more humid – a sign of things to come as we head into Thursday.

The humid air will be accompanied by showers along a warm front Thursday morning.

Tropical-style downpours are possible, as well as a rumble of thunder.

Isolated flooding is possible in poor drainage areas. Humidity will be high but it will be a ‘cooler’ day with highs only around 70.

Rain will taper for much of the midday before a few more showers arrive along a cold front in the late evening.

Clouds will break for sun on Friday, with warmer temperatures but lower humidity. Around 80 inland, 70s at the shore.

The weekend looks pretty good. Mostly sunny skies each day, with the chance of pop-up showers in the afternoon.

Highs will be in the mid and upper 70s.
