Rain tapers off this afternoon

A flood watch is in effect this morning

Good morning!

The morning commute will be a wet one this morning as we have a round of some heavy rain moving through. This could bring an additional 2-4″ of rainfall to localized areas by midday today – this is concerning given the amount of rain that we’ve already had in the last 24-48 hours. For that reason, we have a flood watch in effect until 4pm today for our entire viewing area excluding Block Island. We’re expecting ponding and minor flooding especially in areas with poor drainage. Use caution this morning on your commute – leave extra time and remember not to drive through flooded roadways.

Today is a cool, but humid one. High temperatures will be in the mid-70s inland and the lower 70s along the coast, with showers tapering off around midday. An isolated lingering shower may linger into this afternoon, but most will stay dry. Clouds will hang tough this afternoon and into this evening – lows tonight will be in the mid 60s.

Tomorrow is mostly dry and a bit warmer, aside from an isolated popup shower in the afternoon. We stay mostly dry heading into the weekend – Sunday is the pick of the weekend with the most sunshine. High temperatures both days will be in the low 80s inland and upper 70s on the South Coast, Cape and Islands.

Be careful this morning and have a great day!
-Tyler
