Rain and patchy fog

Rain, patchy fog, and mist prevail across the region.  Temperatures on the mild side.  The normal high for Providence is 40.  Today we’re expecting to top out around 50 with the rain tapering off to drizzle and remaining cloudy this afternoon.  Chance for scattered showers may continue through Saturday morning.  Temperatures will also continue to register above average.  Today around 50 and mid to upper 40s Friday and Saturday.  It won’t be until Sunday, last day of 2023, that temperatures will fall back to seasonable and extend similar air mass into the middle of next with generally dry conditions.  Meanwhile, plant to bundle up if you’re planning to receive or ring in the New Year outdoors because temperatures will be around 31 with wind chill values in the low-20s under mostly clear skies.
