Rain tapers Thursday, with wind and coastal flooding a concern overnight

Weather will be very slow to improve over the next several days, but it is 'looking up' for the eclipse

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A dreary next few days is setting up for Southern New England. Overnight, the rain will continue through tomorrow morning before tapering off.

Thursday morning will feature the greatest coastal wind and flooding threat. Winds at the coast could reach 50+ mph, leading to spotty outages.

Thursday a.m. high tides will run 1-2′ about normal, which will create minor to moderate coastal flooding.

Temperatures will be chilly throughout, with daytime highs only reaching the low-40s.

The Nor’easter will weaken and slowly pull away Friday into the weekend, but we are looking at more clouds than sun into Saturday.

Sunday is looking brighter, with warmer temperatures.
