Mary Bennett has lived on Mink Road in Providence for 43 years, but lately she’s had some unwelcome visitors creeping into her yard. "We’ve seen constant rats, dead along my property, " explains Bennett.

The rodents are becoming such a nuisance, she’s afraid to even be outside with her grand children. She blames the problem on the vacant property behind hers.

Across the street, Ana Maria is dealing with the same thing. "You hear nibbling and scratching, it’s the weirdest grossest thing," says Maria. She says the neighbors next door have been leaving trash outside.

The two have taken their concerns like many others living in the Elmhurst section of Providence to city officials who are now looking into the problem.

The invasion is also keeping Tony Dejesus with Big Blue Bug Solutions busy. He says he’s been getting calls from people in providence over the past few weeks calls he’s never had before.

He says the best way to keep them out, keep your yard clean and close your trash cans and deprive them of food.
