Reaction: Warren being vetting as possible VP choice

Speculation is swirling around the possibility of Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren being picked as a running mate for Hillary Clinton.

The two campaigned together for the first time Monday in Ohio as news spread that the progressive Senator is officially being vetted as a possible VP pick.

"Warren provides her a chance of outreach to progressives to those who supported Sanders. She also is a good attack dog, she doesn’t feel hesitant to attack Trump and that becomes an important plus,” said political analyst Kay Israel.

Israel says while a Clinton/Warren ticket would provide many advantages, there are some downsides.

"It appeals to very much the same constituency that Hillary appeals to. In other words we are talking about women, moderate to slightly liberal Democrats. It also is a person that Trump doesn’t hesitate to attack,” said Israel.

The speculation getting mixed reaction on our Facebook page.

One viewer writing, "A weak ticket would get even weaker.”

Another saying, "Love them both."

Rep. Joe McNamara, the Chairman of the Democratic Party in Rhode Island says he thinks Warren would be a great choice.

"Her view of Wall Street and the one percent is something that resonates with younger voters and it would help possibly unify the party,” said McNamara.

The Chairman of the Republican Party in Rhode Island releasing this statement:

"This is the unholiest of alliances we have seen this year. By endorsing Hillary Clinton, Elizabeth Warren has shown herself to be a sellout. Whether it’s the Wall Street speech transcripts she refuses to release, her ties to the fossil fuel industry, or coziness with big banks, Hillary Clinton represents everything Elizabeth Warren supposedly stands against.

The question remains whether Sanders’ supporters will come out for Hillary Clinton or just stay home.  Either way, the possibility of Warren as the VP choice of the most flawed presidential candidate in history is welcome news to the GOP."

Warren is not alone on the short list for VP. Other candidates drawing some speculation include; Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine and Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro of Texas.
