Read retrial judge allows accident reconstruction expert testimony

DEDHAM, Mass. (WLNE) — Karen Read retrial judge Beverly Cannone has ruled that Judson Welcher will be able to testify that John O’Keefe’s injuries are consistent with being hit by a vehicle.

But Cannone said Welcher can not testify that there was a collision, that will be up to the jury.

Welch is an accident reconstruction expert and the prosecution’s last witness.

Wednesday, he’s back on the stand for cross-examination from the defense.

The defense could start presenting its case this week.

According to our Boston affiliate WCVB, there are 85 names on the defense’s list of potential witnesses, including former Massachusetts state trooper Michael Proctor.

Proctor was the lead investigator during Read’s first trial.
