Recent rainfall causes sewage spill in Bristol Harbor
BRISTOL, R.I. (WLNE) — An emergency closure is in place for nearly 500 acres of coastline after recent rainfall caused a sewage spill in Bristol Harbor.
The Rhode Island Department of Emergency Management says the western side of Bristol Harbor will be closed starting this morning at nine.
Shellfishing will be off limits between Usher Point and the northern tip of Hog Island.
The closure is expected to be lifted by the end of the month.
