Recipients of fourth Miya D. Brophy-Baermann Memorial Scholarship announced

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — The recipients of the fourth Miya D. Brophy-Baermann Memorial Scholarship were named on Aug. 1.

Abby and Ella were named the recipients of the scholarship, which was started by Michelle Brophy-Baermann to honor her daughter, who was killed in a random, drive-by shooting in Providence in 2021.

Abby is pursuing her B.A. in Communication with a concentration in Speech, Language, and Hearing Science at Rhode Island College while Ella is pursuing her B.S in Communicative Disorders at the University of Rhode Island.

Both men accused of killing Brophy-Baermann were found guilty.
