PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) – The American Red Cross is helping six families displaced by a fire in Pawtucket on Monday morning.

Officials said they are assisting 12 adults and four children whose apartments were impacted by a laundromat fire on Pawtucket Ave

The Red Cross says it does not have immediate information on temporary housing but will continue to work on longer-term recovery plans for those impacted.

The fire originated at the Coin Op Laundromat on the first floor of the apartment complex, which suffered heavy smoke damage, according to the Pawtucket Fire Department.

Crews were able to get everyone out of the building safely, but the blaze took about half an hour to be extinguished.
