Reed and Whitehouse tour demolition of 1904 Ashaway School building

HOPKINTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Sens. Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse joined Hopkinton town officials to tour the site of the demolition of the Ashaway School building on Wednesday.
The Ashaway School, which has been vacant for two decades, has posed safety concerns and was deemed a community hazard according to officials. The Hopkinton Town Council voted to approve the demolition in 2018.
Whitehouse and Reed secured a $465,000 federal earmark to help move forward with the demolition project last year.
Demolition of the building started in June.
