Reed, Whitehouse respond to Trump address to Congress
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island’s congressional delegation has spoken out against President Trump’s address to Congress.
Senator Sheldon Whitehouse released a statement that, while not mentioning the president by name, was particularly pessimistic.
It reads in part:
Our politics is polluted with corrupt billionaire dark money, and the billionaires get back more than they spend in unfair tax advantages over regular citizens.
Meanwhile, Senator Jack Reed criticized the address, saying in part:
President Trump’s speech fell flat because his rhetoric failed to meet reality. The facts speak for themselves: Trump’s policies are raising costs and weakening America.
