Registered sex offender arrested for alleged YMCA women’s shower voyeurism

EAST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (WLNE) — A Brockton man has been arrested for allegedly taking photos of a woman in the shower at the East Bridgewater YMCA, according to East Bridgewater police.

Abidan Rivera, 42, is charged with photographing, videotaping or electronically surveilling someone nude/partially nude, or sexual intimate parts.

The incident occurred on March 2 at the 635 Plymouth Street facility where police responded to reports of a suspicious man taking photos or video of a woman showering.

Rivera was named as the suspect by police after he was identified through surveillance video and a witness statement.

Rivera is a registered Level 2 sex offender.

He was arrested at his workplace in Middleborough on Monday without incident.

Rivera was arraigned Tuesday and given $10,000 bail, and was ordered to wear a GPS monitor and to stay away from the YMCA and victim if released.
