Renovations to be done on Eisenhower House in Newport

There will be renovations done for year-round use on a Newport home that was once used as a summer abode by President Eisenhower.
The home is currently only used for the summer but after renovations are done, the home will be used as year-round location for corporate and social events.
The home, which is on the grounds of Fort Adams State Park, was named after the 34th U.S. President Dwight Eisenhower after he had vacationed there in 1958 and 1960.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the home is owned by the state but is administered by the Rhode Island Historic Preservation and Heritage Commission.
The renovation cost is supposedly $1.5 million and is being overseen by the state Department of Administration.
Governor Lincoln Chafee believes that the extended use of the house will increase the revenue for the state.
