Rep. Sanchez lawyer asks for dismissal of DUI charge

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — State Representative Enrique Sanchez’s case accusing him of driving under the influence is now filed in Bristol County Superior Court.

According to the Providence Journal, Sanchez is now being represented by former house speaker John Harwood who requested the court transfer.

The Journal reports that Harwood is asking that the DUI charge be dismissed and that evidence be suppressed due to violations of Sanchez’s constitutional rights.

A criminal complaint was officially filed in superior court today and Sanchez is due back in court for a pre-trial conference next month.
