PROVIDENCE, RI – The Aaron Hernandez death investigation report obtained by ABC6 News, Thursday, provided new details into how the former Patriots player committed suicide.
The report states that Hernandez was found naked, hanged with his bed sheet. Witness testimony referenced shampoo spread all over the cell floor to make it slippery.
A wall were reportedly covered in religious images, along with the bible verse, "John 3:16.” Everything was painted in what appeared to have been Hernandez’s blood. Below was a bible, opened up to the John 3:16 passage. He marked it in his blood, as well.
The 3:16 verse states: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
The report also states that Hernandez wrote John 3:16 on his forehead in ink and drew two large circular blood marks on each foot.
ABC6 obtained several other reports, totaling a couple of hundred pages. In one of them, inmates gave their testimony. Many said they felt Hernandez’s suicide had been “some sort of religious message.”
One inmate stated Hernandez had talked to him more and more frequently in a religious tone; even going up to his door before lock in, saying, "remember when you die, your soul gets reincarnated."
Another inmate said Hernandez mentioned a rumor he heard: That if an inmate has an open appeal and dies in prison, he is acquitted and will no longer be guilty.
The documents also stated that surveillance video proved no one went into Hernandez’s cell before his suicide. A blood test showed no indication of drugs in the former athlete’s system.
Hernandez also told an inmate he was thinking about going back into the NFL after his not guilty verdict; even if it wasn’t to play for the Patriots.
