Residents shocked after shooting at massive house party in Northborough
NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. (WLNE) — A 16-year-old boy was shot and killed Sunday at a massive party of around 300 people at a vacation rental home in Northborough.
The victim was a Bellingham resident but did not attend Bellingham High School.
Residents near the home on Howard Street said they were shocked and wondered why anyone would show up to a party with a gun.
“It’s just very sad and terrible what happened,” nearby resident Lisa Holvnia said.
Northborough police said the scene at this home early Sunday morning was complete chaos, with hundreds of party-goers running down the hill from the house, escaping after hearing gunshots.
“Who would expect that many people up here? What are 16 and 17-year-olds doing here in the middle of the night? They don’t even live near here,” Holvnia added.
A 17-year-old was also shot at the party in the backside and treated at the hospital. They were released shortly after.
Some other party-goers on the scene were hurt and received medical care on-site.
Three adult suspects appeared at Westborough District Court on Monday facing gun-related charges in connection with the death of the 16-year-old victim.
The suspects charged are 20-year-old Wallisom Texeira Da Silva of Hyde Park, 19-year-old Arnoldo Nogueira Filho of Northborough, and 27-year-old Pedro Desouza-Passos of Rockland.
Texeira Da Silva was charged with a gun felony while Nogueira Filho and Desouza-Passos were charged with gun possession.
Holvnia said she’s lived in the area for at least 25 years and has never seen anything like this.
“It is always quiet. It’s a great town,” Holvnia said. “We don’t have trouble like this.”
“Hopefully this is a message to parents to know where your kids are,” she added. “What they are up to and who they are hanging around with.”
Officials said the homeowner was on the property during the party, but it remains unclear if they were the one who threw the party or someone else who rented the home.
ABC 6 was informed that the victim’s parents are currently overseas.
