Rhode Island assault weapon ban bill up for committee vote

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island’s controversial assault weapons ban is up for a vote in committee Tuesday afternoon.

The bill, ushered in by Governor Dan McKee, contains a controversial budget amendment.

Gun rights advocates said the language of the bill could mean every gun would be banned in Rhode Island.

The House Judiciary Committee will vote on the bill Monday afternoon at 3 p.m.
