Pawtucket, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island Commerce’s Renewable Energy Fund has awarded a grant to a solar company to build three solar projects in the state.

Gridwealth, a commercial solar developer, owner, and operator, was awarded $225,000 to construct commercial rooftop solar projects.

The projects will be constructed at the former mill at 1100 Central Ave. in Pawtucket as well as at 200 and 300 High Point Ave., also in Pawtucket.

The company added that altogether the projects will l consist of nearly 4,000 solar panels and occupy nearly 180,000 square feet.

“These solar projects will help the state achieve its ambitious renewable energy and carbon reduction goals, while making it easier for our nonprofit partners to continue to deliver their important services by saving money on what they spend for electricity ultimately reducing their operating budgets,” Chairman and President Quincy Vale said.

The company said the three projects are expected to produce 1.6 megawatts to benefit non-profits who can purchase the energy at a discount.
