Rhode Island Congressional Delegation forgoing pay during government shutdown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse and U.S. Representatives Seth Magaziner and Gabe Amo said they will decline their paychecks during the ongoing government shutdown.

The delegation said the decision was made as a “show of solidarity” with federal workers who were not being paid during the shutdown.

The shutdown began on Oct. 1 and has been the second-longest in the country’s history.
