Rhode Island controversial tweet

Providence, R.I. — Rhode Island Republican leader calling for the governor’s chief of staff to resign over a tweet that came out during the last presidential debate.

Brett Smiley tweeted: “Trump is that blowhard *expletive* you get seated next to at a dinner party who just spouts off uninformed opinions.”

Trump’s honorary state chair, Joe Trillo, tells ABC6 News Smiley is not the image the governor’s office needs at this time.

Smiley later tweeted that he regrets using that language.
