Rhode Island E-911 revealing new location technology

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A new app called “What Three Words” will help assist first responders when attempting to find people having a emergency.

Members of the public can download the app for free on their phone and give their “What Three Words” address to a telecommunicator.

In turn, they can use the app to find the precise location where assistance is needed.

The app works offline, making it effective for more rural areas.
