PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ Rhode Island’s members of the Electoral College are scheduled to meet at the State House to cast their votes for president and one plans to call for an investigation.
The four Democratic electors will cast their votes Monday.
One elector, former gubernatorial candidate Clay Pell, said Sunday he plans to make a motion asking Congress and the president-elect for an independent, bipartisan investigation into hostile foreign intervention into American democracy. He previously asked that electors be provided information on suspected Russian meddling to help Republican Donald Trump win the election.
The other electors are retired labor union leader and former Cranston firefighter Frank Montanaro; Providence state Rep. Grace Diaz; and East Greenwich resident Susan Weiner. All are expected to vote for Democrat Hillary Clinton, who won the state’s popular vote.
