PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Financial aid for Rhode Island’s food assistance program is in jeopardy.
The federal agency warned the state that they will cut off funding unless problems with the human services computer system are resolved.
In a letter, the US Food and Nutrition Service stated that continued corrective action is needed to make sure low income families have access to food stamps.
Governor Gina Raimondo told ABC6 News that the notice was no surprise to her.
Problems associated with the multi-million dollar system included delayed SSI payments and long lines at the Department of Human Service offices.
