Rhode Island House, Senate Dems re-elect leaders

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ Democrats in the Rhode Island House and Senate have chosen to keep their leadership teams for the 2015 legislative session.      

House Speaker Nicholas Mattiello was re-nominated at a caucus meeting Thursday evening. The full House will confirm that on the opening day of the Legislature Jan. 6.      

The rest of the current leadership team was re-elected by the caucus, including Majority Leader John DeSimone; Majority Whip Jay Edwards; and Deputy Whip Joseph Almeida.      

Senate Democrats chose President Teresa Paiva Weed for another term, and also re-elected Majority Leader Dominick Ruggerio.
