Rhode Island International Film Festival kicks off

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – The Rhode Island International Film Festival began it’s 22nd season at PPAC on Tuesday night.

Between Tuesday August 7th , and August 11th nearly 300 short films will be debuted.

The festival is a qualifier for the Oscars and has helped launch so many talented artists over the years.

Last year the film "the silent child" premiered at the Rhode Island international film festival and went on to win the Oscar for "best live action short film."
