PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The fight over abortion rights continues in Rhode Island on Tuesday.

The Senate Judiciary Committee will hear a series of bills on both ends of the issue.

One bill would allow abortion coverage for people on Medicaid and state workers. On the other side, Republican Sen. Jessica de la Cruz has introduced a bill that would prohibit abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

Another bill introduced by de la Cruz would require proper medical attention if an attempted abortion results in the “live-birth of an infant.” That bill is also supported by Senate President Dominick Ruggerio.
