McKee said crews will continue to search for any existing pressure points.
“The other piece that we are shifting to is the idea that the economy is really important to us. Businesses have been impacted, we know that workers have been impacted, so let’s make sure that we’re doing this effort to shop local during this holiday season,” he said.
McKee asked the public to consider leaving generous tips for local businesses to help relieve the loss of revenue.
He said he will collaborate with the mayors of Providence and East Providence to keep a record of businesses that have taken a hit from the traffic disruption.
The Department of Transportation announced an immediate closure of the westbound side for repairs on Monday.
Officials expect the bridge to be ready to reopen in three months, depending on weather.
