Rhode Island man sentenced for providing cocaine to distributors and drug dealers

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Rhode Island man was sentenced to federal prison for providing kilograms of cocaine to distributors and street-level drug dealers in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, according to Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom.

29-year-old Jonathan Masa-Gonzalez was sentenced to five years in federal prison, followed by four years of supervised release.

The office of Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom said Masa-Gonzalez was one of over a dozen people charged in September 2021 regarding an investigation into an extensive street-level drug trafficking conspiracy.

According to the court, Masa-Gonzalez was a broker in the sale of multiple kilograms of cocaine to a leader of the conspiracy.

On June 5, 2024, Masa-Gonzalez pled guilty to conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.
