Rhode Island State Police arrest six on weapons and drug charges

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Rhode Island State Police task force and several other law enforcement agencies arrested six people for an alleged high-level narcotics and firearms distribution network operating throughout Rhode Island.

The investigation produced search warrants for several addresses in Providence, Johnston, Cranston and North Providence.

Recovered from the residences during the course of the searches were various amounts of narcotics including fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine, narcotics distribution materials, a Shadow Systems 9mm semi-automatic pistol, a Core Government .556 semi-automatic assault rifle, a Walther 9mm semi-automatic pistol, a RML .556 semi-automatic assault rifle with a scratched out serial number and over $70,000 in cash.

The following individuals were charged for numerous narcotics and firearms offenses:

  • Kejuan Mitchell, age 31, Providence, Rhode Island
  • Edison Kelly Lopez, age 30, North Providence, Rhode Island
  • Catalino Lopez, age 47, North Providence, Rhode Island
  • Joel Kennedy, age 36, Providence, Rhode Island
  • Andres Campbell, age 33, Providence, Rhode Island
  • Hamlet Lopez, age 33, Johnston, Rhode Island
