Rhode Island State Police investigating I-295 pedestrian crash

Rhode Island State Police respond to a crash involving a tractor trailer and pedestrian on Interstate 295 South on Thursday, June 26, 2025 (WLNE).

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island State Police are investigating after a pedestrian was hit by a tractor trailer on the highway Thursday afternoon.

It happened just before 3 p.m. on Interstate 295 North, just south of Route 146.

According to state police, the man hit by the tractor trailer was taken to the hospital for treatment.

There was no update on his condition immediately available.
