Rhode Island State Police announce passing of K-9 Rex

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – The Rhode Island State Police have announced the passing of K-9 Rex. Rex served with Trooper Daniel Gazola and had been deployed on several missions since 2011, according to the agency.

We’re sad to report the passing of K-9 Rex who served alongside Trp Gazzola since 2011. K-9 Rex was deployed on countless missions during his career and helped provide security at many public events. Our thoughts are with Trp Gazzola at this difficult time. #AlwaysThere pic.twitter.com/Y4NDItW3On

During Rex’s career, he was able to provide security for people at venues like Gillette Stadium, and the Rhode Island State House, as well as at the Boston Marathon.
