Rhode Island State Police, Massachusetts State Police release statistics from holiday weekend
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island State Police and Massachusetts State Police have released 4th of July weekend statistics regarding DUI arrests, motor vehicle crashes and general traffic stops.
From 12 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. to Sunday, the combined efforts of 38 police departments across the state of Rhode Island and RISP arrested a total of 57 people for driving under the influence, according to the Rhode Island Police Chiefs Association.
RISP alone investigated 30 motor vehicle crashes and over 471 motor vehicle stops for traffic violations.
In Massachusetts, MSP made 91 OUI arrests from Thursday to Sunday.
MSP troopers also responded to over 300 crashes, with 39 crashes resulting in injuries, and no deaths.
MSP also handed out over 1300 speeding tickets.
