Rhode Island vaccinates people 75 and older

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE): Rhode Island has started vaccinating residents 75 and older this weekend, according to the Department of Health.
Widespread COVID-19 vaccinations of people 75 years and older will begin in early to mid-February. However, the state received 5,000 doses, allowing some of the most vulnerable to be vaccinated earlier than expected.
The vaccine was distributed to cities and towns based on the percentages of their population that are 75 years of age and older.
These early vaccinations are made by appointment only. Cities and towns are handling the appointment process in different ways.
Lifespan is also holding special clinics this weekend. A spokesperson said they hope to vaccinate 350 patients who are 75 years of age and older. However, these clinics aren’t open to the general public.
When the state opens vaccinations to the wider 75+ population, it will be posted here.
