PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ The state’s first gentleman is taking part in a marketing campaign as his first initiative in his new role.

Andy Moffit is the state’s first “first gentleman” as Gov. Gina Raimondo’s husband.

Moffit is joining with the Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Rhode Island Hospitality Association on Monday to announce the second annual “Do-Over-Day” to support local businesses. Do-Over-Day will be held April 18.

Residents and visitors are being asked to do over any plans that were ruined by bad weather this winter. The campaign includes discounts and promotions.

The governor’s office says this is the first time Moffit is publicly supporting an endeavor and partnering with local organizations as the first gentleman.

Moffit has greeted visitors at the Statehouse and spoke at an education event.
