RI committee to review St. Mary’s Home for Children report

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island House Committee on Oversight will meet Tuesday to review a report about incidents occurring at St. Mary’s Home for Children in North Providence.

This meeting will occur due to a report from the Office of the Child Advocate that brought to light “significant safety concerns and abusive living conditions” at St. Mary’s.

Acting Child Advocate Katelyn Medeiros will appear to present the report and its findings, as well as Department of Children, Youth and Families Director Ashely Deckert, who will present a report on the agency’s actions following the incidents.
