R.I. Department of Education introduces new school rating system

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Department of Education has introduced a new evaluation system to rate schools in Rhode Island.

The system rates schools on a scale of five stars.

It looks at things like academic growth, graduation rates and absenteeism.

Officials expect the new system to especially help poor performing schools and those with English language-learners.
