RI Energy reverses decision on savings plan, utilities commission approves measure
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island Energy has reversed course on their decision to withdraw a plan to help customers save on their bills throughout the winter months.
The Rhode Island Public Utilities Commission-approved plan will save customers an average of $32 a month January through March.
The proposal was imperiled when RI Energy said their deadline to approve the plan passed.
That iteration of the plan would have saved customers up to $75 a month, including gas bills.
The newly approved savings plan only applies to electric service through RI Energy.
