RI Governor Dan McKee discusses the state’s snow strategy

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee sat down for a virtual interview with ABC6 Anchor Karah Bailey Tuesday to discuss the state’s plan for the ongoing snowstorm.

McKee was joined by Marc Pappas, director of the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency.

McKee reiterated his message that drivers stay off the roads until the snow was cleared out and roads were deemed safe again.

“We have about 400 vehicles out now clearing the snow from our state roads and our federal highways,” said McKee. “Our message to people is let them do their work, stay home, stay off the roads, so that we can clear the snow so that everyone can be safe.”

“We’re expecting by 9 o’clock tonight to be pretty clear of the snow on our roads,” said McKee.

He went on to say that the roads will be “down to pavement” by Wednesday morning.

“The snow is heavy, it’s sticking everywhere, so I’d say there’s no real area of focus,” said director Pappas. “The area of focus is the whole state right now.”
