RI group to rally in favor of surtax on income of $625,000 or more

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Tuesday afternoon, there will be a rally in favor of a tax increase on the income of Ocean Staters who make more than $625,000 a year.

The Revenue for Rhode Islanders Coalition will rally around two bills, which would create a three percent surtax on taxable income above $625,000.

The group said that the tax would affect only the top one percent of earners, while generating $190 million in annual revenue.

That rally starts at 3 p.m. in the house lounge at the State House.
